(Las Vegas) New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers told NBC Sunday night that he hopes to return to action around mid-December after treating a torn Achilles tendon.

Rodgers had previously hinted that he was hopeful of returning to action before the end of the season, but this was the first time he had been so specific. He suffered what was expected to be a season-ending injury in the season opener in September against the Buffalo Bills.

“He said to me, ‘I know it sounds crazy, but when the surgery goes well, and you’re a good patient, it might be possible,'” journalist Melissa Stark reported during the presentation of the match between the Jets and Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday night.

However, Rodgers, who was on the sideline, added that he just “didn’t feel like” throwing a few passes during warmups like he had in previous weeks.

Asked after the Jets’ 16-12 loss to the Raiders, coach Robert Saleh said that “if the doctors give him the green light, he’ll also have the team’s green light.”
