(Ottawa) Quebec multidisciplinary artist Marcel Sabourin is one of 54 Canadian personalities who will be honored this Thursday in Ottawa during an Order of Canada ceremony which will take place at Rideau Hall.

Mr. Sabourin will be made an Officer of the Order, with eleven other people.

For his part, host and actor Marc Labrèche will become a Member of the Order of Canada, with 40 other Canadians.

The Governor General writes that Marcel Sabourin distinguished himself for his remarkable contribution in various fields as an actor, clown, author, screenwriter, director, producer and lyricist. Whether in theater, television or cinema, he has been able to move people in a multitude of striking roles. He also worked at the National Theater School of Canada.

For his part, Marc Labrèche will be rewarded for his talent as a dramatic and comedic actor in cinema, theater and television. It is also noted that as a host of satirical talk shows and designer of caricatured television series, he used his humor, both absurd and thoughtful, to provoke collective reflection on a wide range of social issues.

Among the other Quebecers who will become Members of the Order of Canada are Francine Bois, who has been at the head of the Montreal Book Fair for nearly three decades, the playwright Jean Marc Dalpé, the businesswoman Marie Giguère and the choreographer Linda Rabin, co-founder and former co-director of the Montreal Contemporary Dance School.
