While waiting for the return of the Book Fair to the Palais des congrès de Montréal, the Salon dans la ville will begin its third edition on November 10 with discussions around literature, performances and workshops throughout the metropolis.

Around fifty activities are already on the program for the event and others should be added before then.

You can follow, among other things, playwriting workshops with Afrofeminist author Marie Louise Bibish Mumbu at the Maison de la culture de Côte-des-Neiges, the guest quarter of this 46th edition of the Montreal Book Fair. At the Library of the Cultural and Community House of Montreal-North, a 6 to 8 in the company of North Montreal authors is planned for the opening evening.

“The spirit of the Salon dans la ville is to surprise with activities around books and reading. And the goal is to increase the number of meeting points in all neighborhoods, not just in central neighborhoods,” the general director of the Montreal Book Fair, Olivier Gougeon, told La Presse.

Among the participating bookstores, L’Euguélionne will hold a round table on the literature of the future with Philippe Néméh-Nombré, Élodie Comtois and Névé Dumas. The Ciné-campus of the University of Montreal will offer a screening and a discussion on the film adaptation of the novel Le Plongeur, with the author Stéphane Larue and the screenwriter Eric K. Boulianne.

Story times, readings and live manga drawings are also on the menu for the youngest in Little Italy and Hochelaga.

The Salon dans la ville will be held during the two weeks preceding the Book Fair at the Palais des Congrès, which should unveil its program by the end of October.
