The author Catherine Cloutier-Charrette, who is behind the blog L’emméredeuse, has written a second tender and true novel which echoes the questions of many women in relation to their role as mother and spouse.

At 35, she is the head of a family of two children – an “ordinary, but not beige” family, according to her. Never wanting for anything, she always led a quiet life, until traumatic memories from her childhood came to the surface without warning.

In the grip of an existential crisis, filled with the feeling of being empty and broken inside, she begins to have nightmares and begins to move away from her partner. Then an unexpected opportunity allows her to free herself from this “box” in which many girls grew up, in her opinion, preventing them from exposing their flamboyant personalities or making decisions that might displease them.

Éveline speaks with an open heart and without taboos through the sincere pen of Catherine Cloutier-Charrette, who knows how to put words where it hurts. A simple, unadorned story that feels good, just as we sometimes need.
