(Sydney) An Australian university has announced a symposium on the Taylor Swift phenomenon, which will examine the impact of the American star on gender, literature, the economy and the music industry.

“Swiftposium 2024” will be held from February 11-13 at the University of Melbourne with a “wide range of academic disciplines” relating to the 33-year-old pop icon.

The university this week launched a call for academic papers ahead of the conference with six other universities in Australia and New Zealand.

“Swiftposium is a hybrid academic conference for scholars to engage in critical dialogue about the popularity of Taylor Swift and its profound implications on a range of issues,” she said in a statement.

Key themes will include the world of Taylor Swift fans, the economic impact of her tours and her cultural significance. Her approach to gender issues, sexuality, feminism, LGBTQ rights, intellectual property and literary interpretations will also be on the conference menu.

Taylor Swift is taking a break from her triumphant international tour which began in March and is set to resume in November. In the meantime, she is preparing to hit the big screen with a documentary: Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour.
