(London) In addition to accusations of rape and sexual assault made by four women in the press, former British host and actor Russel Brand saw on Monday a report to the police and the shelving of several projects.

Since the first revelations over the weekend, which Russell Brand completely refutes, the affair has continued to grow in the United Kingdom.

To the point of causing a reaction even in Downing Street, where the spokesperson for Prime Minister Rishi Sunak spoke of “very serious and worrying accusations”.

In the wake of testimonies relayed by the Sunday Times and Channel 4, London police announced on Monday that they had received a report the day before about a sexual assault which allegedly took place in 2003 in the lively Soho district.

“Investigators are in contact with the woman” concerned, said a Scotland Yard spokesperson, explaining that she would benefit from police support.

“We continue to encourage anyone who believes they may have been the victim of a sexual assault, regardless of how long ago they were, to contact us,” the Scotland Yard spokesperson added.

In a joint investigation by The Sunday Times and The Times newspapers, as well as Channel 4, four women accused the 48-year-old actor of rape or sexual assault between 2006 and 2013.

Russell Brand was at the height of his career at this time, both as a presenter on BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 and as an actor in Hollywood.

Even before these publications, the ex-host, now mainly active on social networks, had firmly refuted the accusations.

He assured in a video published on several platforms that he had always had “totally consensual” relationships and denounced a “coordinated attack”.

“Several (other) women” have since contacted The Times, according to the daily, and professional disappointments are beginning to follow one another for him.

A performance of his show Bipolarization scheduled for Tuesday evening at the Theater Royal in Windsor, about forty kilometers from London, has been postponed, its promoters announced.

And his publisher, Bluebird, announced that it was suspending all plans for future books with Russell Brand, in light of the “very serious accusations” made against him.

According to its website, the publishing house was due to publish a new book in December 2025 called Recovery: The Workbook.

During his career as a comedian, on television and in the cinema, in the United Kingdom then in the United States, Russell Brand was noted for his repeated escapades, his former addiction to alcohol and heroin, his brief marriage to pop singer Katy Perry and his tendency to brag about his multiple female conquests.

He has recently made numerous conspiratorial, anti-vaccine and anti-mainstream comments on his YouTube channel, followed by more than 6 million subscribers, or on his X account with more than 11 million subscribers.

The media that employed Russell Brand also indicated on Sunday that they would investigate the accusations against him internally.
