Britney Spears’ husband files for divorce

(Los Angeles) American pop singer Britney Spears and her husband have separated, the latter filing for divorce on Wednesday after 14 months of marriage, according to court documents filed in a Los Angeles court.

The star’s husband, Sam Asghari, 29, an Iranian-American model and actor, cited “irreconcilable differences,” according to the documents dated Wednesday.

The couple would have separated after a violent argument, Sam Asghari accusing Britney Spears of deception, according to several American media.

The 41-year-old pop star had celebrated her union with Sam Asghari in June 2022, after five years of relationship.

The couple had announced a month before their wedding that the singer had suffered a miscarriage.

According to American media, the interpreter of Baby One More Time and Toxic would have concluded a marriage contract which provides for the separation of property between her and Sam Asghari.

Britney Spears has two boys, Sean and Jayden, from a previous marriage to Kevin Federline. She was also briefly married – less than three days – to her childhood friend, Jason Alexander.

On Instagram Wednesday night, the singer shrugged off the media whirlwind surrounding her marital issues. She announced that she planned to buy a horse, without hinting at her marriage.

The singer, who will publish her memoirs this fall, was married to Sam Asghari after years of fighting against her father to be released from his guardianship, decided in 2008 due to psychological disorders.

Britney Spears had denounced an “abusive” measure which, according to her, prevented her from removing her contraceptive IUD despite her desire to have more children.

The artist judged in particular that her father Jamie Spears had “punished” her during these years of guardianship by preventing her from “being able to see anyone or say anything”.
