(Boston) David Krejci has decided to retire, a predictable move that still leaves the Boston Bruins without their top two centers after setting single-season win and point records.
Krejci made the announcement in a press release on Monday. He thanked the chairman, Cam Neely, and the general manager, Don Sweeney, for giving him time to mature his decision.
His departure comes three weeks after that of captain Patrice Bergeron.
The 37-year-old Krejci returned to North America for his final NHL season last year. He had returned home to the Czech Republic to play a season in front of family and friends.
A versatile center, Krejci played 1,032 with the Bruins, the only NHL team he played for, from 2007 to 2013. To 768 points, including 231 goals, which he tallied in 16 seasons, we must add 128 (43-85) in 160 playoff games.
He helped the Bruins make the playoffs 13 times during his time in New England, including three Finals appearances and their 2011 win.
