(Washington) The unemployment rate fell slightly in July in the United States, to 3.5%, a level still historically low, but job creations were fewer than expected, while a slowdown is paradoxically desired to allow inflation to fall durably.

Last month, just 187,000 jobs were created, the Labor Department said Friday. Analysts had expected 200,000, according to Market Watch consensus. June job creations have also been revised downwards, to 185,000 against 209,000 initially announced.
