(Paris) Carlos Alcaraz, who won the Wimbledon tournament for the first time in his career on Sunday at the expense of his runner-up Novak Djokovic, consolidated his place as world number 1 in the ATP ranking published on Monday.

The 20-year-old Spaniard is now 880 points ahead of the 36-year-old Serbian, whom he beat in five sets in the final, but will have to defend in September the 2,000 points acquired last year with his victory at the Internationals of the United States 2022 in which Djokovic had not participated due to his vaccination status.

The Russian Daniil Medvedev remains 3rd, at a respectable distance from the first two. There are no other changes in the top 10.

American Tommy Paul moves up one place to 14th in the world from Croatian Borna Coric. It’s the 26-year-old Australian Open 2023 semi-finalist’s career best.

Pole Hubert Hurkacz moved up to 17th place from Australian Alex De Minaur. German Alexander Zverev, up two places, returned to the top 20, in 19th position. Argentinian Francisco Cerundolo, down one place, is 20th.

In the rest of the top 100, Russia’s Roman Safiullin, now 43rd, recorded the best progression of the week after reaching the quarterfinals at Wimbledon, with a gain of 49 places which allowed him to obtain the best ranking of his career.

The American Christopher Eubanks, who also reached the quarters of the London tournament, also occupies the best ranking of his career, at 31st in the world, up 12 places.

Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime is still the highest-ranked Canadian on the ATP Tour, ranked 12th, even though he lost in the first round for a second consecutive Grand Slam tournament.

Ontarian Denis Shapovalov, who reached the fourth round at Wimbledon, moved up six places to 23rd.
