(Hamilton) Marc Liegghio had five field goals and helped the Hamilton Tiger-Cats beat the Ottawa Redblacks 21-13 on Saturday.

Liegghio’s final punt, from 25 yards, gave the Tiger-Cats an eight-point lead (1-3) with 11:49 remaining in the fourth quarter. Liegghio has completed each of the nine field goals he has attempted since joining the ranks of the Tiger-Cats, but missed a conversion kick.

Dustin Crum managed to make things interesting late in the game for the Rouge et Noir.

Playing at quarterback relief to starter Jeremiah Masoli, Crum approached the Rouge et Noir (1-3) at the 20 line in Tiger-Cats territory with seven seconds left on the clock. On the last play of the match, he tried to get himself into the end zone. He was, however, stopped about a yard and a half from goal by Richard Leonard and Chris Edwards, much to the delight of the majority of the 21,331 spectators gathered at Tim Hortons Field.

Masoli, who was playing his first game this season, left the game in the second quarter with a left leg injury.

He fell in action when he was moving to his right and fell on the ground without anyone’s help. He immediately grabbed his left leg with his hands and left the playing area with the help of his teammates.

The Rouge et Noir did not reveal the nature of the injury to Masoli. However, he would have been seen with a protective boot on his left foot.

Masoli completed six of 10 passes he attempted for 37 yards and one interception. Crum was 14-for-21 for 149 yards and two interceptions. He also ran the ball six times, going for 91 yards and scoring a major.

For the Tiger-Cats, Matt Shiltz was 19-for-26 for 233 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Tyreik McAllister scored the only major for the Tiger-Cats.

Lewis Ward had two precision kicks and a conversion for the Rouge et Noir.
