Following the validation of the pension reform by the Constitutional Council and its immediate promulgation by the President of the Republic, the Liot group, already author of a motion of censure, immediately chose to file a bill. In view of their parliamentary niche, scheduled for Thursday, June 8, he has thus decided to prepare a text aimed at adopting the repeal of the pension reform. A sufficiently serious threat to the executive, which has met several times to prevent a close vote in the National Assembly. What is the latest news before this day of debates?
The French still hope, against all odds. After months of social mobilization, numerous clashes and increased combativeness of the unions, but also of the opposition, the democratic course of the pension reform is however coming to an end. While the government now has other projects in mind, the Liot group wants to try a last gamble this June 8 during the parliamentary niche of which it will take the lead. In perspective during this day, a bill, which aims to repeal the pension reform.
Faced with this possibility, the executive was rather worried, especially since the Liot group is already the author of the motion of censure which almost cost the place of the government of Elisabeth Borne. If the proposal is indeed to be studied this Thursday, the majority has allowed the forced use of article 40, capable of prohibiting any parliamentary proposal creating a burden on public finances, to hover for several weeks now. In this way, it would prevent the vote in the hemicycle.
In reality, the possibility of seeing this bill applied is becoming increasingly utopian. Asked about this on RMC / BFMTV, the President of the National Assembly Yaël Braun-Pivet thus affirmed that “tomorrow, whatever happens, there will not be a vote on the repeal of the pension reform ”.
She added that the Article 1 reinstatement amendments, to revert retirement to 62, “will be ruled out of order by myself within the day.” The president confirmed that “other inadmissibility […] will be pronounced”, specifying that she was merely applying “the rule, nothing but the rule”.
The President of the National Assembly confirms that after the vote carried out in the Social Affairs Committee, the rest of the bill will be well studied this Thursday. The boss of the Liot group immediately denounced “a prevarication”, or a breach of obligations, with the Parisian.
In the process, several members of the opposition castigated a “denial of democracy” with the use of article 40 while the president of the LFI group, Mathilde Panot, announced that she wanted to file a motion of censure against the government. The debates promise, once again, under high tension in the National Assembly.
