(St. Petersburg) Vladimir Guerrero slammed a grand slam and the Toronto Blue Jays got back on track with a bang on Tuesday, dominating the Tampa Bay Rays 20-1.

Guerrero also hit two one-run singles.

He provided three of 27 hits for the Blue Jays, who had lost their last five games.

Guerrero is hitting .300 this season, with eight home runs and 33 RBIs.

Matt Chapman, Danny Jansen and Daulton Varsho each drove in three runs.

George Springer had four hits, including a solo homer and an infield run single.

Springer hit a solo homer in the third, making it 2-0.

He homered on a breaking ball, with a full count. Shortly before, he had been brought to the ground by a high rapid and inside.

Springer added a one-run single to the infield in the fourth, after a one-run double from Jansen.

“It feels good to have good results,” said the right fielder. It was just a good day. Hopefully this will give us a good boost. »

Toronto opened the game with three straight singles. Coming from Guerrero, the third pushed Springer to the plate.

Varsho extended the lead to 6-0 with a two-run single in the fifth. He ended an 0-for-13 drought with runners in scoring position.

Also in the fifth, another run came from a wild pitch, then Kevin Kiermaier made it 8-0 with a sacrifice fly.

Springer hit a two-out triple, improving his record in the game to 4-for-4. He crossed home plate soon after, the result of a passed ball.

Bichette then went to second base by virtue of an error by third baseman Isaac Paredes, on a ground ball, before scoring on a Guerrero single.

Whit Merrifield had three hits and three runs scored, the day after a 4-for-4 game with one homer and two RBIs.

He also stole a 14th base, which is second among the Americans.

Taj Bradley (3-1) allowed four runs and nine hits in four innings.

Jose Berrios (4-4) allowed one run and five hits over seven innings, having five batters at bat.
