Since April 13, it has been possible to declare your income for 2022. You can do it directly online on the impots.gouv.fr website, or by mail. Depending on your choice, the reporting period varies. Indeed, if you want to do it online, you have until May 25, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.: departments no. 1 to 19 and non-residents, until June 1, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.: departments no. 20 to 54, and until June 8, 2023 at 11:59 p.m.: departments no. 55 to 974/976, to complete it. On the other hand, taxpayers declaring their income by paper have until May 22, 2023, “the stamp of La Poste being authentic”, as indicated by the public service site.

Be careful not to forget to tick certain boxes and also be careful to declare everything, because in some cases, these oversights can cost you dearly. Remember to complete your declaration on time, otherwise your tax will be increased by 80%. The same increase may be made in the event of fraudulent maneuvers and in the event of abuse of rights. “Late interest may also be applied to you”, as the public service site explains to us. These are 0.20% per month of delay. After consulting the Tax Offenses Commission, criminal proceedings for a fine of €500,000 or 5 years’ imprisonment may also be initiated in the event of fraud.
