(New York) Tesla is the subject of a collective lawsuit for invasion of privacy, in particular following revelations about employees sharing sensitive images internally taken by cameras installed on the brand’s vehicles.
The electric cars of Elon Musk’s company are indeed equipped with multiple sensors, including cameras, to guide the driving assistance tools, explains the complaint filed Friday by Henry Yeh, owner in California of a Model Y, and consulted Monday by AFP.
Employees accessed the images “not for the stated purpose of communicating, providing services, and improving the driving systems of Tesla vehicles,” the complaint alleges. But “for the tasteless and criminal entertainment of Tesla employees, and possibly people outside the company,” the document claims, based on testimony reported Thursday by Reuters.
Employees released “recordings of Tesla customers in private and embarrassing situations, such as a video of a man approaching a Tesla vehicle completely naked, videos of accidents or assaults on the road “, is it advanced.
It is also possible to determine where the videos were taken, thus making it possible to identify the owner of the vehicle contrary to what the company claims, says the complaint.
The plaintiff, who accuses Tesla of, among other things, invasion of privacy, breach of consumer rights, breach of contract and negligence, is seeking damages.
