After 4 seasons, more than 300 shows and just as many laps on the treadmill, Julie Snyder is stepping down as Noovo’s daily talk show helmsman. To mark her last week on the air, the former demon will host Big Brother Celebrities winning personality Mona de Grenoble and three collaborators (Tammy Verge, Antoine Vézina and Guillaume Pineault) on Monday, Isabelle Boulay and Lise Dion on Tuesday, and Mariana Mazza, Véronique Claveau, Silvi Tourigny and Serge Denoncourt on Wednesday. Thursday, the production promises a “big farewell party” featuring in particular Les Trois Accords, who sign the theme song of the show.

Premiered on Saturday, this show given in November 2020 and December 2021 is a wonderful retrospective of the work of the original Garou. On the program, 14 timeless hits, including Dolores, The wings of an angel, Entr’deux joints, Mon pays, Fu Man Chu, Lindberg (with Louise Forestier), I love you like crazy, I will come back to Montreal and Ordinary. Lasting 75 minutes, the recording made by Louis-Philippe Eno shows how much the 78-year-old singer-songwriter (!) pushes — even today — the note with accuracy and power. We also note the abundance of archive images, which embellish this colorful time travel.

Premiering on Club illico since February 2022, this supernatural detective thriller from authors Martin Girard (Nitro Rush, The Game) and Charles Dionne (Alertes, Until Decline) lands on ADDIK. Created by Frédérik d’Amours (director of the films À vos marques…party!) and divided into eight episodes, it chronicles the journey of Valérie Boivin (Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin), a Montreal police officer who chooses to settle for the been to a small Laurentian village called Lac-Noir with her teenage son (Anthony Terrien) to support the local police chief (Stéphane Demers), whose former partner has mysteriously disappeared without a trace. The cast also includes Normand D’Amour, Laurie Babin, Andreas Apergis and Louise Cardinal.

When it hits the mark, this 10-episode action-thriller is reminiscent of Bodyguard, that 2018 British miniseries starring Richard Madden. (Although we could also have talked about the 1992 film with Whitney Houston and Kevin Costner…without the ballads.) More or less believable, the scenario inspired by Matthew Quirk’s novel is nonetheless effective: we follow a junior FBI agent (Gabriel Basso) plunged into the heart of a dangerous plot, which must protect a young woman (Luciane Buchanan) from the people who murdered her aunt and uncle. Released on March 23, the first season has been so successful that a sequel has already been announced for 2024.
