In France, 1 in 3 people are unaware of their rights to social benefits. This is the observation made by Joseph Terzikhan, founder of the Mes-Allocs site. Created four years ago, this platform aims to facilitate access to aid in France and support individuals in their projects.

For Planet, he reviews the typical profiles of households that unfortunately tend to ignore their rights. Damage estimated at 10 billion euros per year, according to the last barometer of non-use of social assistance carried out in January 2022.

By studying the database of his scheme, made up of 1.5 million unique visitors per month, Joseph Terzikhan notes certain similarities among people who do not receive aid when they are entitled to it. “These are often single people, therefore single or widowed. There are therefore fewer people to look into the aid and the procedures in the home”, explains the specialist.

For their part, children are generally a factor in knowing about social assistance. “People who do not use allowances are often people who have no children, or only one. As soon as you have two children, you are made aware of the fact that this notably opens the right to family allowances The larger a family is, the more it is aware of aid,” notes Joseph Terzikhan.

Age does not play an important role in the use or not of aid, but the study nevertheless notes a more marked trend among young workers aged 25 to 45 years.

The founder of Mes-Allocs, which lists more than 1,800 helpers, explains in particular that “all the moments of life open the right to specific help”. Examples.

For Planet, Joseph Terzikhan lists several moments in life that give the right to specific help:

Among all these aids, which are the most often forgotten by French households?

According to the study published by Mes-Allocs, the rates of recourse are largely unequal according to the schemes. Here is the ranking of the aids best known by households:

On the contrary, here are the ones that eligible people use the least:
