The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food has made public this Thursday in the Official Bulletin of the State the awarding of the Prize Foods of Spain to the Best Wine in 2020 ex aequo the wine Gran Reserva Fondillón Brotons 1964 and Fondillón 50 years, “Always ill wait for you” , both with the seal of Denomination of Origin Alicante.

The wine Gran Reserva Fondillón Brotons 1964 , of Brotons Wines and Oils SL, Pinoso (Alicante) is elaborated with grapes of the variety Monastrell 100%. Their manufacture is completely handmade by the treading of traditional grapes and pressed by hand. His upbringing has been carried out in casks of centuries of Spanish oak until he reached his full maturity as Fondillón.

The product is developed by the company Brotons Wines and Oils, which was founded in 1950 by Francisco Brotons Alfonso. From 1990 undertook a major transformation to expand and modernize their facilities without compromising the traditional character in the elaboration of wines of Alicante.

For its part, the wine Fondillón 50 years, “Always ill wait for you” Bodegas Monovar (MG Wines Group) is also made with grapes of the variety Monastrel to 100%. This wine, which has aged in barrels monoveros trees constructed in the NINETEENTH century with american oak wild, has its origin in overripe grapes on old vines situated on the sunny slopes of the valley of the Vinalopó. .

Wineries Monóvar and have the most important reserve of Fondillón in the world, which is preserved in large barrels with more than a century old.

In the granting of these awards has engaged a jury of experts of recognized prestige in the wine sector, which chose the winners among the wines highest rated in the International Competition Bacchus 2020.

With the announcement of the Prizes Food of Spain, the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food recognises the excellence of the Spanish food products and the work of professionals and related entities with their manufacture, processing, commercialization and diffusion.
