Gustavo, and Rafael del Castillo, sailor of the Real Club Náutico of Gran Canaria, have proclaimed this Sunday the champions of the Canary islands class Snipe, in the competition organized by the Federación Canaria de Vela, which has been developed during the week-end in the Reef.

The strong wind has been the great protagonist of the two days of competition, disputed in the bay of the capital of Lanzarote, with north direction and an intensity which exceeded at times 20 knots. Many of the 24 crew participants have had problems in their boats, and broken by the strong wind.

The gran canaria Gustavo and Rafael of the Castle ended the first day leading the overall standings, after signing up the partial victory in two of the three sleeves disputed.

A condition of leaders that have advocated on the morning of Sunday, without lowering the third-place finish in the three races sailed.

Aureliano Negrin and David Martin, the components of the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife and champions of Spain Snipe on five occasions, have been the protagonists of a competition from less to more, and have been cast in the second place of the ranking after adding two second places and one fourth position in the race Sunday.

During the celebration of the Championship of the Canary islands Snipe, surrendered to a recognition of Jesus Quevedo Vernetta, person that in the 60s pushed the class snipe in Lanzarote. During the recognition was accompanied by his family, friends and sailors, receiving plaques of appreciation from the Federation Canaria de Vela, the Real Club Náutico de Gran Canaria and the Real Club Náutico de Arrecife.
