The Real Club Náutico de Valencia has decided to cancel the edition 2020 of your regatta flagship, the Trofeo SM la Reina, whose celebration was scheduled from 2 to 7 July. The club has taken this decision as a result of the health crisis of the coronavirus Covid19.
After 32 years of celebrating this regatta -the last 21 with the name of hm the Queen – this is the first time that the Royal Yacht Club of Valencia you must cancel, keeping the XXII edition next year. The difficulty that can turn computers and boats of other provinces, autonomous regions or even other countries to compete in valencian waters, united to the impossibility of hosting social events on earth, have led to the RCN Valencia to cancel that, historically, has been its most important test, and one of the most prominent on the national scene.
“After a deep evaluation of all the possible scenarios, we have decided to cancel the celebration of the Trofeo SM la Reina this 2020. It has been a very difficult decision and a hard one, but his celebration would be irresponsible. Since this regatta is a major event of international scope and with great participation of the city, which we believe should be celebrated in the best conditions and be, as always, a meeting both sporting and social, that brings together the best of Europe, something that unfortunately is not possible in the current situation,” , ” says the president of the Real Club Náutico de Valencia, Alejandro Fliquete.
The next edition of the test, which will be the XXII Trofeo SM La Reina – Regata Homenaje a la Armada Española, and XXXIII Copa Almirante Marcial Sánchez-Barcáiztegui, will be held in the summer of 2021.
“The outbreak of the health crisis at global level makes it impossible to plan and organize an event of this magnitude with warranties, and the phases of the desescalada require the necessary prudence in the movements, which makes it difficult for the crews to come to Valencia to compete. The planned dates of the XXII edition of the Trofeo SM La Reina will be from 1 to 4 July 2021.
