11 tips for watering your plants when you’re away

The thing is common for those who have plants at home: after two weeks of vacation, we return home to find them in poor condition… Or even irrecoverable.

Because to survive, a plant needs water. And maintenance.

Left abandoned for several days, indoor plants can therefore suffocate and die.

If you do not have a neighbor to entrust your keys to take care of your plants in your absence, there are however several very simple solutions to keep them well hydrated, according to how-to-save and santeplusmag .

It is sometimes difficult to keep a green plant alive.

Watering, light, sun… Each variety has specific needs, to the point that you can no longer find your way around.

If you don’t really have a “green thumb” and want to avoid wasting your time watering your houseplants, opt for these specimens instead, which don’t need a lot of water to thrive. :

Most are indeed succulents. In most cases, they only require light watering every fortnight in summer, and once a month in spring and autumn, specifies the Internet user.

To save a plant that seems dehydrated, you can also use the drench technique.

Dip the pot of the plant in a bottom of water, about a third deep, and let it sit for about 30 minutes. “The water will gradually infiltrate through the drainage holes of the plant pot. And thanks to the phenomenon of capillarity, the water will rise to the surface of the clod,” says Gerbeaud.
