From August 31 to September 10, 2022 was held the 79th edition of the Venice International Film Festival, better known as the Venice Film Festival. A cinematographic event which honored several feature films in competition.
This year, the French filmmaker Alice Diop was rewarded twice for her film Saint Omer, inspired by the incident on the infanticide of Laurence Coly. The latter was accused of having killed her 15-month-old daughter. The director was awarded the Grand Jury Prize as well as the prize for the first film. “It’s a huge honor for me (…). I have no more words,” she said. To AFP, the Frenchwoman had declared: “I was obsessed with this story from the start (…). I was really very upset, flabbergasted, crossed by a lot of quite intimate things about my relationship with the maternity”.
On the Italian red carpet, many celebrities followed one another. Brad Pitt, Ana de Armas, Monica Bellucci… International stars were all there. Alongside the awards, a marriage proposal was also made in front of the photographers. An unforgettable moment for the young woman who said “yes” to her future husband.
