A new study led by researchers from the british university of Nottingham and recently published in The Astrophysical Journal has given a “twist” to the old (and still unresolved) question of the possible existence of other civilizations intelligent. based on the assumption that intelligent life evolves on other planets in a similar way as it has done in the Earth, the researchers have been able to reach an estimate much more accurate than the current number of civilizations with the capacity for communication that could be within our galaxy, the Milky Way. Until now, other studies have placed that number between “0” and a multi-million, but the new work are limited to a few tens.
