The minister of Science and Innovation, is Pedro Duque , will be a candidate to the General Direction of the European Space Agency (ESA), the intergovernmental organization dedicated to the research and development of space programs, which brings together the economic and intellectual resources of its 22 members to carry out programs and activities in the space sector, according to the Executive.

“I filed my candidacy for ESA. I firmly believe that Europe must lead the development of space technologies that boost the economy, strengthen the innovation in all sectors and lead to discoveries that help us protect our planet,” said the minister via Twitter.

Duke has been formalized since his candidacy for this agency, which he joined in 1992, after passing the tests to become astronaut .
