Aviophobes must not have enjoyed the trip. Thursday October 20, 2022, a violent storm hit the capital. At Orly airport, the consequences could have been dramatic for the 39 passengers on the Fly Amelia Rodez-Paris flight.

The plane in question left the runway shortly after 7:30 p.m. Fortunately, there was more fear than harm and no injuries were reported. Among the passengers, the Minister Delegate for Local Authorities Caroline Cayeux took to Twitter to thank the “firefighters and Orly airport teams for their professionalism”, also attaching an impressive photo.

As the flight is delayed, passengers are warned of a thunderstorm. Upon landing, an announcement echoes through the plane, which many hope never to hear. “There is a big storm that I cannot avoid, we will have to land now, announces the captain. He warned that it could be sporty”, remembers the minister with the Parisian.

Despite everything, the device finally lands without a hitch. But just when everyone thinks they’re out of the woods, the passengers realize that the plane can’t stop. “The plane was not slowing down and was doing zigzags like aquaplaning for a car”, explains Caroline Cayeux to our colleagues.

At that moment, a shock was felt in the plane which continued to slide “300 or 400 m in the tall grass, off the runway, before stopping”, she explains. No damage is therefore to be deplored, except for a good scare for all passengers.
