The Mets afterwards stated that deGrom will undergo an MRI to ensure that the tightness, which can be much more in his lower spine onto his right side, is not a sign of a significant accident. DeGrom was pitching for the first time because bypassing a start because of discomfort in his right lat. The Mets said that he was eliminated from Sunday’s game for precautionary motives.

“He is going to get an MRI, simply to find out what is happening there, to determine how he’s, have a crystal clear perspective. Right-side stimulation is what we have from our healthcare staff , more so in his lower spine area, on the ideal side. They are looking, so when we receive back the results, we will understand how he is,” director Luis Rojas said following the Mets’ 4-2 victory.

Rojas stated deGrom’s distress Sunday is”different” than what he had been experiencing before this week after he jumped a beginning since the stiffness is”longer in the lower trunk, instead of a bit higher where it had been.” Rojas stated deGrom was undergoing”no pain at all. He said it is just tightness. That is exactly what he told our coach ”

Rojas wouldn’t agree on what the upcoming steps for deGrom are, stating he needs”to render it to our healthcare team and staff physician, once they have a closer look and see exactly what he had.”

DeGrom didn’t talk to reporters following the match.

The two-time NL Cy Young Award winner drove 68 pitches five innings from the Diamondbacks, allowing a single run, but he called for a coach when he sensed distress hoping to get loose prior to the sixth. He left with the coach and went right to the clubhouse, and it wasn’t immediately declared what induced him to depart.

He was perfect through four innings before fighting in the fifth, when he let a run.

The right-hander walked in the inning, only the second time in his career he has done that. His past three-walk inning was May 13, 2018, in Philadelphia.

New York led 2-1 when he left Sunday, with deGrom scoring the next run after hitting a perfectly placed bunt single in the third inning.

He was substituted with right-hander Miguel Castro and followed closely by fellow Trainers Jacob Barnes and Edwin Diaz, that got the last five laps to earn a save from the Mets’ win, his fifth straight.
