“Our hearts are broken. “Everyone wanted this outcome be different,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina stated. According to law enforcement officials, a body believed to belong to Miya Marcano, a missing Florida college student was discovered Saturday near an Orange County apartment complex. Sheriff John Mina stated that this was not the update he wanted to give to everyone today. “Our hearts are broken. Everyone wanted this outcome different. Marcano was last seen September 24th at her Orlando home, in the Arden Villas apartment building. It is about one mile from the University of Central Florida. The 19-year-old Valencia College sophomore worked in the leasing department at the complex. She was supposed to return to Fort Lauderdale on the same day, but she didn’t turn up. Mina stated that the remains were discovered in a wooded area at 10:45 am by Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies. According to the sheriff, a purse with Marcano’s identification was found near the body. According to the sheriff, deputies arrived in the area after cell phone records revealed that Armando Manuel Caballero (a “prime suspect” according to authorities) was at the apartments on the same night Marcano was reported missing. Mina stated that Caballero lived at the complex for 20 minutes. Caballero, 27 years old, was a maintenance worker at Arden Villas apartment compound and had expressed interest in Marcano. However, Mina repeatedly rejected his romantic advances, authorities stated. Investigators discovered that Caballero had a master key that he used to gain entry to Marcano’s apartment. According to authorities, he was found dead from apparent suicide this week. According to the sheriff, Marcano’s parents were notified of the discovery by the sheriff. The medical examiner’s office will confirm Marcano’s identity. Mina stated that authorities aren’t looking for any other suspects. Mina stated that “we believe quite conclusively Armando Caballero was responsible for this crime” and that there are no other people or persons we are seeking in this case.
