In the struggle for the future of the Italian crisis Institute, Banca Carige has turned to a media report, according to the state. There were discussions between the Ministry of Finance and the money house on the acquisition of a good portion of bad loans in volume of 3.7 billion euros, reported the newspaper “Il Messaggero” on Friday. The balance sheet of the weakening of the money house should be improved in this way, to make it so for possible merger partners more attractive.
Since Christmas, the “Bad Bank speak” of the Ministry of Finance for the settlement of non-performing loans with the Genoa-based money, the house, the newspaper reported. Carige seats on loan in the volume of around 2 billion euros, which would be likely to be paid back, as well as in danger of default, to the extent of 1.7 billion euros.
The “Bad Bank” had already arrived at the rescue of the Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena and two institutes from the Veneto. The newspaper quoted in the report, a letter from the European Central Bank (ECB) to Carige, according to which the money house is a series of ongoing critical problems with capital, liquidity and corporate governance.
