Many things have changed since the 2020 Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. The above photo features Brooks Koepka, Bryson deChambeau.

The image shows them as if they get along. They could not be more opposite. The couple’s personal problems were resolved for the 2021 Ryder Cup where Team USA beat the Europeans at Whistling Straits. The rivalry is back with Friday’s fifth edition of The Match at Wynn in Las Vegas.

Prepare for the match by learning about the history of some of the most memorable moments between Brooks and Bryson.

Slow play was the first step.

Slow play was a big issue on the PGA Tour in 2019. DeChambeau was the poster child for this problem, partly because he was one of the most respected players in the world and was often seen slowing down on television.

It reached the point where even his fellow Tour players were criticizing him. Eddie Pepperell called DeChambeau an “unaffected singleminded twit” and hurled the most harsh criticism at him.

Koepka had also more to say on the subject than DeChambeau, while DeChambeau was just as enthusiastic.

They sorted it out and then moved on. It was just when it seemed like the feud was over, that it was really heating the pot.

Six-pack smack talk

My favorite moment with beef.

DeChambeau stated, “I don’t believe his genetics make him look good.” “Didn’t you see the Body Issue?” He didn’t have abs. “I have abs.”

Queue Koepka’s fire in 3…2…1…

This burn was even more impressive at the time because DeChambeau hadn’t won the U.S. Open (he won it later in the year at Winged Foot).

The Video

It was there, it was there, it was there, and it was all around us. If you don’t know what I mean, let me tell you. It’s pure. The sound of metal spikes clacking, Koepka’s eyes almost rolling off his head as he walks down the cart track.

Brooksie beer

Here’s the part that I find least enjoyable about the feud.

Some spectators were thrown out after Koepka was not playing during the 2021 Memorial Tournament.

Koepka’s response? Naturally, keep trolling.

People who think that they are an actor in the action and not just a spectator of it, have cancer.

Driver and caddie jabs

It was almost a bad turn for Koepka at this point. Although he clearly had the advantage in any rivalry, he couldn’t help but to slander DeChambeau. After DeChambeau’s split with Tim Tucker, there was DeChambeau’s caddie appreciation post. This was before Tucker defends his title at the Rocket Mortgage Classic.
