In an ideal world, would be in Hamburg, where he lived and died a monument for Carl Melchior, in Berlin, would be awarded in his name an annual award for financial diplomacy, and at least, a large German publisher would have a detailed biography about him in the program. in 1871, to a Jewish merchant, and taught the family to be born in to, and since 1917, a partner in the Hamburg banking house of Warburg, took Melchior in a managerial function at the historical development that led to the Versailles peace conference of 1919 on the abolition of the German reparations at the Lausanne conference in 1932.

The fighter for the new Republic
