BIG NIGHT OF THE MUSICALS was the subject of a flurry of social media complaints. Viewers were distracted by the behavior of the live audience which they claimed “spoiled” the show.

Jason Manford hosted Saturday night’s Big Night of Musicals, a National Lottery event that saw spectacular performances from the West End. Link” href=”https://www.express.co.uk/latest/bbc”>BBC programme though, they were left angered by audience members recording the show on their phones, with many left “irritated”.

Jason opened the show singing a selection of classic songs from some of the greatest musicals like Razzle Dazzle or There’s No Business Like Show Business.

Although the performance was enjoyed by viewers, many of them noticed that others had recorded it on their smartphones.

Many people claimed that this made the show unwatchable and rendered them unable to enjoy it.

Twitter user Dylan Roberts lamented: “People in audience filming it on phones are winding my up.” #BigNightOfMusicals.”

Daisy Chain penned: “#BigNightOfMusicals. I was looking forward to it, but I was spoiled by the idiots seated there with their phones high.

Jules said: #BigNightOfMusicals provides me with entertainment. I LOVE LOVE LOVE, but people who have their phones on the air are so annoying!

Lucy said, “BigNightOfMusicals What **** are they filming on their phones?”

Gari commented: “Shoutout to the stupid people filming the audience on their smartphones… knowing that it was being aired in HD by the BBC on Saturday night… #BigNightOfMusicals.”

Steven Atkins was furious.

However, the host didn’t appear to feel any discomfort from filming. He told viewers that he was honored to be there.

Jason, the comedian, stated that he was honored to perform the opening numbers. He said: “It is so honor to be here tonight. It combines two of my favorite things – musical theater and the great city Manchester.”

He said, “What a treat – thousands here at the AO Arena Manchester about to experience an extraordinary extravaganza show like no other.”

“Tonight we celebrate all that is great about musical theater, with some very special performances.”

The performance included a Disney medley with songs from Frozen and Beauty and The Beast.

Broadway star Keala Selt also sang. School Of Rock child stars performed a lively routine.

Beverley Knight, as well as a variety of musical theatre performers, took to the stage.

The presenter, aged 40, said half-way through the show: “Wow! Let’s just take some time to thank all of the shows that participated this evening for putting together these special performances for one night, here in Manchester.”

As he spoke with the stars of the show, he promised that there would be more.
