Muscat- Oman will face off against Australia in the decisive round AFC Asian Qualifiers Road to Qatar Group B at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. The match starts at 8 p.m.

Branko Ivankovic (national team coach), who assumed the role in January 2020 said during a pre-match conference that “Tuesday is very important” for both teams. If we are to qualify for the World Cup qualifiers, we must win.

It will be difficult to defeat the tough Aussies, as Ivankovic revealed that seven of Australia’s national players are infected with COVID-19.

Ahmed al Khamisi (national team player) said that the match against Australia would be difficult and decisive. We will play with the goal of winning and getting three more points.

Ali al Sheyadi (former player and captain of Suwaiq’s Muntaser Club) said that the match would be difficult because the Omani team had played seven matches. They won two matches against Japan, Vietnam, and drew against China, and lost four to China. Also, they have lost twice against Saudi Arabia and once against Australia. The match against Australia on Tuesday will be tough. To fulfill their dream of reaching the World Cup Qatar, the Omani team must win.

Oman currently occupies fourth place in Group A with seven points. Australia is third, Japan second, and Saudi Arabia the first.

Oman will be aiming for third place at the final qualifiers by winning the remaining three games. Oman currently has seven points and the Australian team has 14.
